2016 BGA Dos Equis Cup Challenge

A gathering of 15 of the most interesting men of the world provided for a team match play format over the weekend of Friday, September 30, Saturday Octoer 1st and Sunday, October 2nd in Abbottstown, PA.

Dinner on Saturday night watching college football and listening to live music at The Bridges Golf Club & Guest Quarters. We had the place to ourselves due to the rainy weather.

BGA veterans Frank Mejia and Jim Frenette captained two 8-man teams in a Ryder Cup format (match play). The teams are titled “Ali” for the Mejia team and “Foreman” for the Frenette team in honor of the historic The Rumble in the Jungle title bout in 1974.

There was a steady rain that started on Wednesday through Thursday before we arrived. Light rain showers and mist stuck around for us on Friday and Saturday. The course was soaked and we decided to start with the alternate shot matches on Friday since
the pace is a bit quicker than four ball on the rainy cart path only conditions and limited daylight.

The Foreman team was down to 7 players due to a late withdraw which resulted in a 1 point forfeit in Sundays singles matches. The captains agreed to an alternate shot match consisting of a single player on the 7 man Foreman team playing against an alternate
shot team for Ali.
