Abbottstown, Pennsylvania — October 23, 2011. Fall came, Mother Nature delivered and we experienced it all. Wind, chill, rain, sleet, sun, warmth, gray skies and blue skies…..and that was just Friday! Sixteen BGA players assembled, as 2-eight man teams were pre-selected – Jokers versus Aces. Also, an ante of $75 each provided a pot of $1200 prize money, and a new era of the BGA.
The Bridges of Gettysburg was host to this inaugural prize money event and it did not let us down.
The course was in superb shape – from tee box to fairway to 11 stimpmeter greens.
It was a tremendous setting in the foothills of Pennsylvania, especially with the turning foliage.
Some key highlights:
Pig roast & keg beer on Friday was fun, enjoyable and so were the social hours that evening with everyone.
Saturday provided great golf, accommodating weather, a cocktail hour and then our BGA dinner at the Bridges restaurant…..and it was outstanding food – steaks, stuff flounder, fan tailed jumbo shrimp….the choices were filling and the service by
Annette was super !! Everyone checked in early after dinner due MLB ALCS or NHL Capitals on TV, not to mention playing 36 holes and pounding some beer, wine or Capt. Morgan afterwards.
Sunday was our sun filled day, bright, warm and everyone rested. No one was left wishing for more; because they got more….the tough singles matches.
