To our newest BGA Champion, Manny Geros, Congratulations!!. Despite having a majority of his shots on the putting greens, Manny Geros hung on to win a BGA Championship in his first event.
Saturday, October 31st – Round 1
Wet, slow greens and cool temps made this a very challenging course today. It was 35 degrees and damp when we teed off at 9:30am.
On Sunday, November 1, the players gathered in the rain at a very wet Westfield Golf Club. The course was closed for play due to the conditions. We re-scheduled round two for Saturday, November 7th at nearby Penderbrook.
BGA veterans Mark Chester and Jim Frenette captained two 7-man teams in a Ryder Cup format (match play) over the weekend of Friday, November 1, Saturday November 2nd and Sunday, November 3rd at The Bridges in Abbottstown, PA. The teams are titled “Foot Wedge Crew” for the Chester team and “Back 9 Bandits” for the Frenette team.

Highlight
On the 11th hole, Mark Chester hits a brilliant shot into the devilish 171 yard par 3 leaving himself a 3 foot birdie putt to even the match. Leon Anderson answers with a nice shot to about 12 feet beyond and right of the pin. Leon drains the putt for birdie and puts the pressure back on Mark who makes it to halve the hole. Then, “Back 9 Bandits” Jim and Leon, in addition to winning hole #10 to go 1 up, harness the momentum of Leon’s birdie on 11, do not lose a hole on the back winning 13, 14 and 15 to close out the match.
